Sao Paulo city council has passed a law issuing fines to businesses or organisations which stop women breastfeeding in public.
Penalties of up to £200 could be imposed, according to legal adviser Renata Soares. The mayor is due to sign the measure into law within 20 days.
Ms Soares said it was the “first legislation of its kind in Latin America and, as far as we know, in the rest of the world.”
