Syria: US and Nato slam Russia over bombing campaign

US AND Nato leaders hypocritically condemned Russia yesterday over its air campaign in Syria.

Nato secretary-general Jens Stoltenberg rejected Moscow’s explanation of its weekend incursion into Turkish airspace as an accident, saying there were two separate incidents and “the violation lasted for a long time.

“It’s unacceptable to violate the airspace of another country,” he said, despite the fact that the US-led coalition has been bombing Syria for more than a year without that country’s government’s permission.

On a visit to US forces at Moron air base in Spain, US Defence Secretary Ash Carter complained that he was still waiting for Russia to call him for talks on Syria.

Although Moscow initiated last week’s video conference on its planes avoiding clashes with coalition jets, Mr Carter arrogantly said: “We expect a response.

“It’s only professional that you follow through on the request they made and they’ve not done that yet.”
