Police kill man after altercation

POLICE shot a man dead following an altercation in a residential street in Cambridgeshire on Wednesday night.

Police watchdog IPCC announced an investigation of the incident.

The man in his 40s, believed to be the father of three teenagers, was gunned down by Cambridge Police who were called to a row.

A Cambridgeshire Police spokesman added: “The man died at the scene. No-one else was injured in the incident.”

Neighbours described hearing two or three loud bangs, which they initially thought were fireworks or television sound effects.

Mary Bath said she knew the couple “and they seemed nice.

“It’s an awful thing to happen and we’re all very upset.”
