Jamaican runners break world records at IAAF World Relays

JAMAICA’S men posted a new world record in the 4x200 metres on the opening night of the IAAF World Relays in Nassau.

Yohan Blake, silver medallist in both the 100m and 200m at London 2012, led home the quartet in a time of one minute 18.63 seconds, edging the 1994 US record out by 0.05s.

Nicekl Ashmeade, Warren Weir and Jermaine Brown also played their part for Jamaica.

St Kitts and Nevis finished second in a national record time of 1:20.51s, while France took third and established a new European record of 1:20.66.

The US appeared to finish third, but their second exchange was ruled to have been completed outside the zone.
