Maria Duarte reviews 'Man Up'

Man Up (15) Directed by Ben Palmer 3/5

SIMON PEGG and Lake Bell star in this old-fashioned rom com in which boy meets the wrong girl under the clock at Waterloo Station on a blind date. Deception and mayhem ensue.

The great onscreen chemistry between the sparring pair and their quick-witted repartee help to overcome the rom com-by-numbers plot.

US actor Bell makes a truly convincing Brit and is a sheer delight as the hapless singleton Nancy who, though 34, gets mistaken for his 24-year-old date by Jack (Pegg).

Pegg is believable and appealing as a middle-aged divorcee who’s trying to get back into the dating game.

But, like most men in their forties it would seem these days, he is clearly only interested in meeting women half his age.

A totally guilty pleasure.
