Trump beats homecomer Robertson

JUDD TRUMP ruined Neil Robertson’s homecoming yesterday, beating the world number two 9-5 in the Australian Open final.

The Bristolian managed breaks of 71, 101 and 114 to take his fourth career ranking title having gone in 5-3 at the break.

Robertson said he was “proud” to reach his home final but he had “nothing left in the tank to produce the win.”

It was his second consecutive ranking final after narrowly beating Joe Perry in the Wuxi Classic last week.

Reigning UK Championship title-holder Robertson was hoping to avenge his loss in the 2013 Australian Open to Marco Fu.

But for Trump it was a fourth ranking title.

He beamed: “Back to winning ways” after his win at the Bandigo Stadium.
