Oystons ignore £16m supporters’ takeover bid

THE owners of Blackpool rudely ignored a £16 million bid for the club from the Blackpool Supporters Trust (BST) yesterday.

The League One club were set a deadline of July 21 but the Oyston family, who own the club, didn’t even give the BST the common courtesy of a response.

“The deadline has passed without the basic courtesy of a reply to our offer,” a trust spokesperson told BBC Sport.

“This lack of response is disappointing but not in the least surprising.”

Owen Oyston has owned the club since 1987 while his son Karl — who recently received a banning order for sending abusive texts to a fan — is the chairman.

The atmosphere between supporters and the Oystons is beyond repair, with the last match of last season abandoned due to an on the field protest at half-time.
