Blues hold on to pick up vital three points

Chelsea 2-1 Bristol

Chelsea Ladies kept the pressure on league leaders Birmingham after beating Bristol Academy 2-1 yesterday afternoon.

The blues took an early lead, when Yuki Ogimi’s header beat Bristol goalkeeper Mary Earps.

Chelsea then began to dominate the game and could have been out of sight by half time if it wasn’t for some terrific saves from Earps.

Natasha Harding had a few chances for the away side but couldn’t find the target.

Eight minutes after the break and the home side had doubled their lead.

England striker Eniola Aluko’s low shot was too good for Earps to keep out and the game continued to go Chelsea’s way, with only the excellent Earps keeping Bristol in the game.

With minutes remaining, Nikki Watts lobbed Marie Hourihan in the Chelsea goal to give her side a lifeline but the home side held on to draw them level on points with Birmingham, who have a game in hand.
