Eco-activists to protest at Tory Party conference

ANTI-FRACKING groups and climate-change campaigners will join anti-austerity protesters at a demonstration planned for the Tory Party conference, it was announced yesterday.

Frack Free Greater Manchester, Greenpeace, Friends of the Earth and Frack Free Lancashire will take part in Sunday’s protest in Manchester.

A feeder march will begin from Salford Museum and Art Gallery at 11am and join the TUC anti-austerity march.

Martin Porter of Frack Free Greater Manchester said: “Fracking is the front line in the fight against the crisis of climate change.

“Instead of a few hundred jobs in fracking, the north-west could have 100,000 in wind and solar power, in making our houses warmer and getting our public transport working.”
