Independence 'within Scotland's grasp,' claims SNP

WITH 100 days to go before the referendum on September 18, the Scottish National Party has claimed that independence is “well within Scotland’s grasp” despite the latest poll showing No still leading by 7 points.

Two-fifths of Scots said they hope Scotland will vote for independence against 47 per cent who want Scotland to remain part of Britain, according to pollster Populous.

But First Minister Alex Salmond insisted he was confident of a Yes vote.

“The referendum on September 18 is the biggest opportunity Scotland has had in those three centuries and it is one I firmly believe we will grasp with both hands,” Mr Salmond claimed.
