ARROGANT Tory Boris Johnson refused to guarantee not to take a Cabinet post while clinging on to the £144,000-a-year London mayoralty.
The millionaire former Henley MP is a shoo-in for the safe Uxbridge and South Ruislip seat at the next election — but still plans to warm the chair at City Hall.
London Assembly members challenged him yesterday to at least make a pledge to Londoners not to take a front-bench post or make a Tory leadership challenge while he is mayor.
But self-styled buffoon Mr Johnson, who rakes in hundreds of thousands a year through other work, refused to rule out a £134,500-a-year Cabinet position.
Labour AM Tom Copley branded the mayor’s tight-lipped approach “yet another snub from a man who has grown used to breaking his promises to Londoners.”
He added: “Being an MP is one thing. Taking a Cabinet post or running for the leadership of the Conservative Party are quite different.”
