?Habitable homes left behind by E15 mums

THE E15 mums and their supporters sent a final message to Newham Council yesterday as they left the Carpenter’s estate.

They left the abandoned councils flats in a better state they found them in when they began their occupation on September 20.

And they made their point by erecting an advertising hoarding outside the empty homes.

Mums Sam Middleton and Jasmine Stone posed next to the sign with their supporters before leaving for the final time.

The sign reads: “Council homes available” and includes a number for Newham Council.

The photos show one fully furnished flat that activists labelled the “show home” and is meant to act as an example of how the flats could look if the council renovated them.

Housing activists also helped the mums re-plaster the walls of another run down flat to make it habitable for another family.
