Brandao banned until full hearing

by Our Sports Desk

BASTIA striker Brandao has been banished from the pitch until at least September 18 after allegedly headbutting Thiago Motta.

The Brazilian will then face a disciplinary hearing to decide his fate.

Shortly after Bastia’s 2-0 win against Paris St Germain last week footage emerged appearing to show veteran striker Brandao headbutting his opponent in the tunnel before running off to the changing rooms.

Motta was left with a broken nose.

The Ligue de Football Professionnel said on Thursday evening that the 34-year-old was provisionally suspended following a preliminary hearing. The full hearing will take place on September 18.

Earlier this week, Bastia announced they would take no action against the player despite condemning his behaviour in the incident.

PSG president Nasser al-Khelaifi had called for him to receive a lifetime ban.
