CITY OF LIVERPOOL notched back to back wins with a strong showing away at Kendal Town.
Fresh from a 1-0 home win against Colne on Tuesday evening, Craig Robinson’s side travelled to the Lake District with renewed confidence to take on the NPL North West division strugglers.
After an uneventful first half, the second period was stop/start in nature with the referee reaching for his pocket on a number of occasions as the home side struggled to contain the visitors.
This indiscipline saw Kieran Maguire receive his marching orders for a second yellow card after 66 minutes.
The Purps made Kendal pay instantly, with substitute Jack Hazlehurst’s wicked free-kick from the left evading everyone and finding the back of Morgan Bacon’s net to send the visiting fans into raptures.
The Purple Messi almost added to his tally but missed a golden chance in the closing stages as the Purps held out to take the points.
The result sees City of Liverpool rise to 12th in the NPL North West after a run of much-improved defensive displays which has seen four clean sheets on the bounce in all competitions.
