IN WHAT may have been his last press conference as a NFL player, Marshawn Lynch told the next generation of players in the league to put money aside for retirement as it “don’t last forever.”

Following Seattle Seahawks’ loss to the Green Bay Packers on Sunday night, Lynch made sure he offered advice to those the young players about the importance of looking after their finances as well as their bodies and mental health.

The running back came out of retirement at the end of last year to help his former teammates and was able to offer invaluable insight given his time spent both on and off the gridiron.

In an impassioned speech, surprising for someone who doesn’t talk much in press conferences, Lynch used his experience in the league and out of it to pass on some wisdom and experience the stars of tomorrow.

“It’s a vulnerable time for a lot of these young dudes, you feel me?” Lynch said. “They don’t be taking care of their chicken [money] right. If they was me, or if I had the opportunity to let these young [guys] know something, I’d say take care of your money, because that shit don’t last forever. 

“Now, I done been on the other side of retirement and it’s good when you can get over there and you can do what the fuck you want to. 

“I’ll tell y’all right now while y’all in it, take care of y’all bread [money]. When y’all done, go ahead and take of yourself. 

“While y’all at it right now, take care of your bodies, take care of your chicken, take care of your mentals, because look, we ain’t lasting that long. 

“I had a couple players that I played with that are no longer here. So start taking care of your bodies, your mentals and your chicken. So when you’re ready to walk away, you walk away and be able to do what you want to do.”

Lynch owns his own clothing company called Beast Mode, a restaurant, as well as a mobile phone company on top of his sponsorships from sweets to BMX bikes.
