FOOTBALL: Former Chelsea and England defender Ashley Cole has completed his free transfer move to Roma.

The 33-year-old left-back has signed a two-year deal and has taken a huge pay cut to join the Italian side.

Cole earned in the region of £200,000 a week at the Blues but is thought be on around £35,000 a week with bonuses depending on playing time.

BOXING: George Groves will face European super middleweight champion Christopher Rebrasse on September 20.

The 26-year-old lost twice to Froch in IBF and WBA title fights, with the second defeat coming at Wembley Stadium in May and knows another defeat could cause serious harm to his title credentials.

He said: “I can’t possibly lose this fight and that is why it is more important.”

FOOTBALL: Steven Naismith does not expect to see new Sporting Lisbon signing Ryan Gauld rushed into Gordon Strachan’s set-up.

The Scotland forward said: “The manager is not daft. He will have watched Ryan and will know when he is ready to be put into the first team.

“The move that he has got is fully deserved.”
