HOUSING workers employed by a “progressive landlord” innorth-west England have voted to strike for pay justice and against bosses’ “mega salaries.”
Over 90 per cent of Unite members at ForViva voted to strike.
They are demanding £13.70 an hour for tradespeople and a 5 per cent pay rise for office staff.
No workers have received a pay award since 2016, despite ForViva’s highest director’s pay leaping from £315,000 to £381,000 in that time.
Workers also complain that a culture of intimidation and unmanageable targets is causing real stress.
Labour shadow business secretary Rebecca Long Bailey expressed “solidarity with workers who have voted in favour of strike action today.
“Your concerns of target-related stress, illness and unbearable working conditions must be dealt with urgently.”
A Unite representative, who wished to remain anonymous for fear of victimisation, said: “Our members have overcome intimidation to give the union an undeniable mandate for strike action.
“This is a vote for fair pay and against the mega salaries of executive directors.”
