FOOTBALL: Colombia striker Carlos Bacca has a leg injury and will be out for the rest of the World Cup group stage.

The Sevilla player sustained a leg muscle strain in training and will be sidelined for Thursday’s game against Ivory Coast and the match against Japan on June 24.

Bacca was on the bench in Colombia’s 3-0 triumph over Greece in their Group C opener on Saturday.

Azarenka hasn’t played since March but was beaten 4-6 6-3 7-5 by Giorgi, ranked 42 in the world.

Giorgi will now face Britain’s Johanna Konto who defeated Switzerland’s Belina Bencic 6-3 6-2.

Konto is now closing in in on a top-100 place for the first time in her career.

FOOTBALL: United States match-winner John Brooks admits his World Cup debut could not have gone any better.

“I couldn’t imagine a better first goal for the team and the fact it won us the game makes it even better. It’s simply wonderful,” he said.
