ATHLETICS: Dwain Chambers, the old man of British sprinting, shocked his young rivals yesterday by beating them to the 100 metres crown at the British Championships in Birmingham.

The 36-year-old clinched his fifth straight domestic title in 10.12 seconds, edging out Harry Aikines-Aryeetey by just 0.02secs at the Alexander Stadium.

Favourite Chijindu Ujah was third in 10.18.

CRICKET: Former Worcestershire chairman Duncan Fearnley says the memory of academy director Damian D’Oliveira, who has died at the age of 53, will live on through the many players he brought through the club’s youth ranks.

“His name will live on through the players out there now in the first team as many of them came through the academy he was in charge of,” said Fearnley.

FOOTBALL: Dundee chief executive Scot Gardiner has announced he will leave the club at the end of this month.

Gardiner, who previously worked at Rangers and Tottenham, arrived at Dens Park in 2012 to help resolve the club’s financial difficulties.
