Rolf Harris faces new allegations

POLICE considered fresh allegations against Rolf Harris yesterday as the ink dried on his conviction for indecent assault.

After the 84-year-old’s unanimous conviction on 12 charges involving four women — most while they were underage — officers said they would look at claims that were not part of his trial at Southwark Crown Court.

Dozens more alleged victims came forward during the trial, including several in Australia.

Scotland Yard has been in touch with its Australian counterpart, but it is not yet clear whether any allegations are being investigated in Mr Harris’s home country.

Abuse lawyer Richard Scorer for Slater & Gordon, which represents 176 victims of Jimmy Savile, said the firm had been contacted by “up to a dozen people” with allegations about Mr Harris and was considering them carefully.

He said: “We back an over-arching inquiry into child abuse once those reports which are still outstanding are completed.”
