More strikes against outsourcing due ‘within a fortnight’ on Docklands Light Railway

Rail union RMT confirmed yesterday that further strike action on the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) will go ahead in the next fortnight.

The union has served notice on Keolis Amey Docklands, the franchise holder for the DLR, that the next phase of strike action shall be between Friday April 20 until Tuesday 24.

This news comes as the union has been negotiating with Acas this week in order to try to reach compromise.

RMT claims that meagre progress was made in discussions with Acas this week and that the company is refusing to budge on halting job outsourcing and for the improvement of workplace conditions.

The union's general secretary Mick Cash said: "RMT has made it absolutely clear that this dispute can be resolved and that there is still time to reach a settlement but that requires a display of the same kind of will and commitment from the management side to move the issues forward."
