Policing Cops in Scotland allegedly told rape victim: ‘If you've got it, flaunt it’

POLICE in Scotland faced a fresh probe today after allegedly telling a rape victim: “If you've got it, flaunt it.”

According to her statements, the woman was on a night out with a friend in May 2016 when they got into what they thought was a taxi.

The driver then picked up another man before a road accident took place.

Two days later, the woman telephoned police to report that she had been raped by the two men.

But authorities decided later in the month that any contact had been “consensual,” so no crime had been committed.

Complaints were then made to Police Scotland about how the incident had been handled.

It was alleged that the sexual offences liaison officer who spoke to the woman had told her: “If you've got it, flaunt it, eh?” and “We've all done it — woke up in the morning with regret.”

The detective constable also reportedly accused her of “having a liking for the driver.”

The Police Investigations and Review Commissioner has ordered Police Scotland to provide further information about the claims.
