Terrorism Lincolnshire police arrest man suspected of belonging to banned fascist group

A 46-YEAR-OLD man was arrested today on suspicion of belonging to banned far-right group National Action.

Counterterrorism officers raided a property in Lincolnshire early in the morning and detained the man for suspected membership of a proscribed organisation and malicious communications.

He remains in police custody for questioning and enquiries are ongoing.

National Action was banned in December 2016, becoming the first far-right group outlawed as a terrorist organisation.

Detective Chief Superintendent Dominic Scally, head of counterterrorism policing for the north-west, said the arrest “forms part of a wider operation into the activities of a proscribed organisation.”
