Chain-owned London hotels will be picketed this week over pay and access to union membership.
Activists with union Unite are targeting the Intercontinental Hotel Group.
The union says the group is failing to pay the London Living Wage to its staff, and is “dragging its feet” over staff access to trade union membership.
Tomorrow the Holiday Inn at Kings Cross will be picketed from noon to 12.30pm ahead of the International Labour May Day march and rally.
On Friday from 9.30am to 11am pickets will be in action at the Park Lane Intercontinental Hotel. A group shareholders meeting starts there at 11am.
The group has eight hotels in London and Unite says some of its members working in them “are fearful of revealing that they are union members because of the group’s perceived anti-union bias.”
Unite says management refuses to discuss union membership.
