Sport Sport In Brief: 21/10/2017

FORMULA ONE: Max Verstappen signed a new contract with Red Bull yesterday which keeps him with the team until 2020.

The 20-year-old has impressed since moving into Formula One for the 2016 season, and became the youngest grand prix winner with his victory in Spain last year.

Red Bull team principal Christian Horner said: “We are delighted that Max has agreed to extend his contract with Red Bull Racing.”

FOOTBALL: A Coventry supporter who invaded the pitch to confront their players during Tuesday night’s home defeat by Forest Green was banned from the City of Coventry Stadium for life yesterday.

The Sky Blues fan, Darren Kedzierski, ran on to the field during a stoppage and shouted at his team’s players before eventually being escorted off the pitch by club captain Michael Doyle and then a steward.

RUGBY UNION: Scotland flanker John Hardie was suspended by club side Edinburgh yesterday and told he will not be selected for next month’s autumn Test series amid a Scottish Rugby Union investigation.

CRICKET: Scotland will warm up for the final rounds of the Intercontinental Cup and the World Cricket League Championship with two one-day internationals against Papua New Guinea.

Cricket Scotland has announced plans for the matches against PNG.

They will play fixtures at the Dubai International Stadium on November 24 and 25.
