You told the story of a lifetime of suffering at the hands of male exploitation and violence.

It was a damning indictment of the sexism so prevalent in our society — and of the totally inadequate state of our mental health services, which abandon so many people to cruelty, isolation and abuse.

But your strength and resilience in coming through it all shone through and made your visit a humbling one for us.

We are deeply moved by your enthusiasm for our women’s day edition and are always seeking to improve and extend our coverage of the issues facing women in our society.

We can also confirm that we will continue to share your support for Jeremy Corbyn as a Labour leader prepared to envisage the radical solutions we need.

We are so proud that you find the Morning Star a source of strength and, as a socialist, feminist and anti-racist daily paper, we promise to continue the battle for a society that rights these terrible wrongs.
