England have a bright future, says Beaumont

Tamsin Beaumont was in a positive mood after England’s win over Pakistan on Wednesday as she claimed that the future is bright for the side.

Openers Beaumont and Lauren Winfield racked up the runs as England set a personal record, finishing on 378-5, on their way to a 212-run victory.

The win saw England take a 2-0 lead in the three-match one-day international series and Beaumont sees this as the start of something special.

“There has been a lot of talk outside of our camp about this series and it is nice to go out there and just let our cricket do the talking,” Beaumont said.

“Obviously we have got a very young bunch of players here but we are really looking forward to the future at the moment.

Heather (Knight) has got off to a flying start (as captain) and we are glad to be a part of it.”

Beaumont scored her maiden century for England, as did opening partner Winfield, as they put on 235 in 39 overs, with the pair sharing the player of the match award.

Winfield hopes that England can keep this up on Monday as well as heading into the ICC Championship.

She said: “We are playing good cricket. It’s not always necessarily about getting the results. It’s how you go about getting those results.

“It’s about scoring a lot of runs and bowling sides out and that’s what we’ve managed to do in the last two games and it’s important we keep playing our cricket that way.”
