i.m. Ian Fraser 'Lemmy' Kilmister

Grinding out in basement bedsits,
terraced rows and queasy suburbs,
all the grim days of the eighties,
through neurotic endless nights:

from jukebox bars and greasy nightclubs,
rust-corrupted Leyland motors,
tinny no-fi junkshop speakers,
insidious and raw as will:

music for machinists, welders,
shop assistants, fabricators,
the reckless, wild, or merely stupid,
poor souls lost and lately found:

accompaniment to vodka benders,
kitchen table two-stroke rebuilds,
carnal attic flat encounters,
euphoric unexamined life.

 

 

Tim Turnbull has two poetry collections with Donut Press and a collection of supernatural tales, 'Silence and other stories' due from Red Squirrel in February. Between 1979 and 1995 he played in various punk bands, all of which sank without trace or survivors.
