Trades Councils Conference backs voice of workers

THE Morning Star received a boost from delegates at the conference of trades councils in Crewe this weekend.

Bristol’s Hugh Kirkbride stressed the important role the Star plays in the fight against austerity, urging delegates to ensure that their trades council took out shares and supported the paper.

He cited TUC joint consultative committee secretary Tom Mellish’s article in Saturday’s edition and said that the Star was “the only media outlet covering trades council conference.”

As part of the Star’s shares drive, union branches, trades councils and other progressive organisations are encouraged to buy shares in the People’s Press Printing Society to support the paper as the voice of resistance.
