Yemen: PM Bahah pays flying visit to Aden

EXILED Yemeni Prime Minister Khaled Bahah paid a hit-and-run visit to Aden at the weekend in a bid to show that life is returning to normal in the war-torn city.

An Aden airport official said that Mr Bahah had landed with six government ministers on Saturday and departed the same day.

Government-in-exile spokesman Rageh Badie said that Mr Bahah had been briefed about the situation and the functioning of local government agencies, which he said the government is working to restore.

Mr Bahah was reported as having toured the city and reviewed the destruction caused by months of fighting.

Army and government-aligned militias reported further military success in the southern city of Zanjibar, where pro-government field commander Ali Hawash said that his fighters had entered the city under Saudi air cover and were searching for Houthi rebel fighters.

Houthi officials said that their fighters remain in control of the south and west of the city.
