Neonazi marchers challenged

ANTI-FASCISTS vowed yesterday to take to the streets in the Midlands and the north of England this weekend.

A ragtag mob of far-right EDL supporters are expected to rally in Walsall today, where they have form.

The EDL’s last visit to the town in 2012 resulted in multiple arrests and the subsequent convictions of more than 30 people.

They will be met by We Are Walsall, a coalition of trade unionists and community groups which has organised a celebration of the multicultural nature of the town.

Police claimed they had had “positive” talks with the racist march organisers but warned that they would deal swiftly with anyone intent on causing trouble.

On Merseyside, councillors, trade unionists and members of community will join a march organised by Merseyside Unite Against Fascism today.
