Festival state aid to be investigated

SCOTTISH Minister Nicola Sturgeon is facing calls to investigate corruption allegations after it was revealed that T in the Park festival organisers DF Concerts received £150,000 in state aid.

The row over the money centres on a meeting between Scottish Culture Secretary Fiona Hyslop and DF Concerts which was set up by former SNP adviser Jennifer Dempsie.

Ms Dempsie was a festival project manager working on a contract for DF Concerts at the time of the meeting, which took place just before the grant was awarded.

Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Willie Rennie said that the “revelations are deeply unsettling.”

In response to the allegation a Scottish government spokeswoman said: “The awarding of funding followed normal procedures and the ministerial code was adhered to at all times.”
