Young communists meet, camp and discuss

ENTHUSIASTIC young communists from across Britain asssembled in Lancashire last weekend for the annual Young Communist League summer camp.

Saturday’s good weather saw a visit to Nelson ILP Clarion House, the last remaining one in Britain, as well as a climb up Pendle Hill flying Communist Party flags.

The camp, now in its second year, also featured workshops on trade union issues and student politics, as well as visiting speakers on international topics such as the economic war against Venezuela and the struggle against apartheid in South Africa.

League general secretary Zoe Streatfield said: “We’re very proud to be building on the success of our 2014 summer camp.

“The camp provides a great opportunity for young people interested in socialism to relax and socialise together, as well as discussing Marxist theory and the important political issues of the day.”
