Corbyn’s bid boosted by Daily Record approval

JEREMY CORBYN’S campaign to be elected Labour leader was boosted yesterday by an endorsement from Scottish newspaper the Daily Record.

It called on Labour to “reconnect with its roots” and said that “Corbyn’s anti-austerity message inspires people and restores their faith that a better way is possible.”

The Record’s backing follows Jeremy Corbyn’s campaign tour of Scotland last week during which he addressed thousands of people in four cities.

The only other daily which endorses Mr Corbyn is the Morning Star.

Mr Corbyn welcomed the support, saying that “Labour has a real need to reconnect with communities in Scotland if we are to succeed.”

New Scottish Labour leader Kezia Dugdale said that Mr Corbyn’s endorsement was “great” but reiterated that she would be “delighted” to work with any of the four candidates.

Scottish chairman of the Jeremy4Labour campaign Neil Findlay did not get a post in Ms Dugdale’s shadow cabinet yesterday.

But she said that “Neil Findlay will have a job, and you will hear about it tomorrow.”
