Builders celebrate a win for London Living Wage

THE construction site at London’s iconic landmark Battersea Power Station became a better place to work yesterday after workers were awarded the London Living Wage.

Officials for construction union Ucatt, which has been campaigning for the £9.15 an hour salary to be implemented across the industry, expressed their delight as they announced the deal.

Ucatt regional secretary Jerry Swain said: “It shows what can be achieved by working together.

“The client has been very supportive of the London Living Wage, they along with ourselves recognise that a living wage as a minimum rate of pay is a key component to establishing a loyal and committed workforce.

Battersea Power Station is being transformed into a residential complex.
