Proteas spinners picked for India

CRICKET: South Africa recalled Dane Piedt and Imran Tahir yesterday as the top-ranked Proteas selected three specialist spinners for their test series in India.

Piedt and Tahir join Simon Harmer as the spinners in the test squad, while wicketkeeper Dane Vilas was retained after making his debut against Bangladesh in July.

South Africa will play four Tests, five one-day internationals and three Twenty20 games in India starting with the limited-overs games early next month.

Sky gobbles up Bangladesh TV

CRICKET: Pay-TV giant Sky said yesterday that they would show England’s 2016 tour of Bangladesh live on television.

With the addition of the two Tests and three ODIs, Sky now have a monopoly on England’s matches for the next two years.

The Bangladesh tour is immediately followed by a five-Test series in India, and England host the West Indies and South Africa in 2017, as well as the ICC Champions Trophy.

Wilson funeral

MOTORSPORT: 500 mourners gathered yesterday for the funeral of British racing driver Justin Wilson.

Wilson died on August 24 after he was hit on the helmet by a piece of debris at the Pocono Raceway in Pennsylvania, US.
