Fulham 2-1 Blackburn
by Michael McCann
at Craven Cottage
BLACKBURN manager Gary Bowyer said that football must follow cricket and tennis by using goal-line technology across the professional game in England, not just in the Premier League, after yesterday’s defeat to Fulham.
Rovers were denied a late equaliser despite a Grant Hanley shot appearing to cross the line before being cleared by Jamie O’Hara.
“There is a huge amount at stake in the Championship, namely the prize of the Premier League.
“Hopefully today is a great example for the powers that be to go and do something for the good of the game.
“Cricket doesn’t have it in just one game or one country do they, tennis doesn’t just have it at Wimbledon do they? The powers that be need to make the game better.
“The amount of money and the amount that is at stake in the game, we must be able to do it all the way through” the Football League.
The incident came late on as part of a Blackburn onslaught, with Fode Koita hitting the post while a Ben Marshall header was brilliantly saved.
Blackburn trailed after first-half goals from Ross McCormack and Moussa Dembele rewarded Fulham for dominating the first half.
The visitors improved after the interval as a Jordan Rhodes penalty, after a needless foul from James Husband, set up a tense finale.
Fulham held on to claim a third successive win in all competitions.
