Reform's Andrea Jenkyns to march against solar panels in ‘dumb stunt’

REFORM UK’s Andrea Jenkyns faced ridicule today for organising a“dumb stunt” this weekend in which she plans to protest against solar panels.

Ms Jenkyns defected from the Tories to Reform last year before announcing her ambition to become the mayor of greater Lincolnshire.

As she ramps up her campaign, she plans to lead a march tomorrow through Lincoln against the “solar land grab,” bemoaning the loss of farmland to “industrial-scale” developments.

Last month, Ms Jenkyns said that environmentally damaging fracking was a “no brainer” and railed against Energy Secretary Ed Miliband’s pledge to ban it.

Alexander Kirk, fossil fuel campaigner at Global Witness, said: “Protesting against solar power is like complaining about sunshine. It’s cheap, it’s clean, and it powers millions of homes across the UK.

“Fracking, on the other hand, is expensive, polluting, owned and run by billionaire fossil fuel companies, and has caused earthquakes.

“This solar panel protest is just another dumb stunt that shows just how out of touch Andrea Jenkyns really is. Frack off, Andrea.”
