Wigan boots out NF thugs

HUNDREDS of anti-fascists mobilised in Wigan, Greater Manchester, on Saturday to confront a march organised by the neonazi National Front (NF).

Organisers of the anti-NF counter-demonstration said they were joined by members of the public who were “aghast” at the “sieg heil” salutes being used by NF demonstrators.

Counter-demo organiser Steve Cooke said: “There were about 70 of the NF and their supporters, and five times that many protesting against them.

“The NF were protected by police, but couldn’t go down the route they wanted and had to make a detour. They were throwing bottles and cans.”
