Sherwood: We’re in for a turbulent time at Villa

TIM SHERWOOD believes his Aston Villa side are in for a turbulent time having made their worst start to a season since the 1986/87 campaign, which ended in relegation.

Villa’s problems are starting to mount having lost six of their last eight games in the league, culminating in a 1-0 defeat to local rivals West Bromwich Albion thanks to a first-half strike from Saido Berahino.

“Worried? No, no I’m not,” said Sherwood when asked about his side’s form. “I’d be more worried if we weren’t creating chances and weren’t working hard enough in training to try and put that right.”

And Sherwood believes he can handle the pressure of the Villa hot seat despite being greeted by boos from the Villa Park faithful at the end of Saturday’s game.

“To be in this job it comes with pressure. Some go under and some come out fighting, and I think you know the answer to which one I would be.

“I need to make sure the players come with me and I’m sure they will.”

He added that Villa have been making progress and he said from the start it would be an “up and down” season.

“At the moment it’s been more downs than ups but we deserve more than what we’ve got on the table.”
