JEREMY CORBYN is like a fine “craft ale” that’s given Labour a “strong flavour” again, according to Labour MP Liam Byrne.
The former chief secretary to the Treasury, who nominated Yvette Cooper for the Labour leadership, made the comparison in an interview with BBC Radio 4.
Asked whether Mr Corbyn could lead Labour into government, he said Mr Corbyn had helped Labour reconnect with its traditional voters.
“What I think Jeremy has done is he has brought a bit of soul fire back to the Labour Party,” he added.
“In many ways, he is the sort of craft ale of the labour movement.
“He is authentic, he has got strong flavours. He is seen as something very different to the bland mediocrity of politics.”
It has been reported that Mr Corbyn is teetotal, but the Labour leader has been known to enjoy a glass of red wine at Morning Star Christmas parties.
