THE Welsh budget dominated FMQs today ahead of the vote later in the Senedd.
Plaid Cymru leader Rhun ap Iorwerth pressed Eluned Morgan on the culture crisis in Wales, claiming that each day “institutions of cultural, educational and national importance are being dismantled under this Welsh Labour government.”
The Plaid leader accused the First Minister “of knowing the price of everything, but the value of nothing.”
In an angry exchange, Ms Morgan said: “Cardiff University is one of the jewels in the crown of our higher education sector in Wales, and we need to make sure that it’s built on a solid foundation.”
Mr ap Iorwerth accused the government of washing its hands of responsibility but said higher education is something that the Welsh government can influence and control its funding for the future.
The First Minister said the budget debate would hear there is an extra £1.5 billion on the table, “the highest budget increase we've seen since the beginning of devolution and your party is threatening not to support that.”
