TUC assistant general secretary to be appointed to Industrial Strategy Advisory Council

TUC assistant general secretary Kate Bell is set to be appointed to the government’s industrial strategy advisory council today.

The council is an independent, non-statutory, expert committee that will work with the Department for Business and Trade.

It will be responsible for advising the government on the development and delivery of the industrial strategy and monitoring progress on its objectives.

Ms Bell, commenting ahead of her appointment today, said: “After years of economic stagnation, the government’s industrial strategy can show the way to delivering better jobs across the country.

“At work is where people will feel the impact of this strategy. Success will mean rising pay for workers and thriving industries at the forefront of the big challenges of our times.

“Trade unions look forward to working with government and businesses to develop and deliver the strategy.

“And we will use our voice to make sure the strategy delivers for Britain’s working families.”
