Bullied DLR staff heading for action

BULLYING and the abuse of agency workers have led staff on London’s Docklands Light Railway to push for a strike, their union said yesterday.

Rail union RMT said bosses had breached agreements and allowed a “creeping culture” of intimidation to develop.

A ballot of the network’s 700 staff, who are employed by French privateer Keolis/Amey, will open later this week.

RMT general secretary Mick Cash said: “Our members on DLR are furious at the way that Keolis/Amey are trying to bulldoze in some of the worst working practices and conditions that we associate with the operations of the most cheapskate and anti-union companies in the transport sector.

“We will not sit back and allow this culture to develop on this key part of London’s transport network.”
