NORTH KOREA marked the 70th anniversary of the ruling Workers’ Party on Saturday with a mass military parade in the capital Pyongyang.
Thousands of troops — some in replica Korean war-era uniforms — along with hundreds of tanks, missiles and rocket launchers, marched through Kim Il Sung Square as jet fighters flew overhead.
Despot Kim Jong Un, who inherited power from his father and grandfather, vowed to resist US imperialism.
“Our revolutionary force is ready to respond to any kind of war the American imperialists want,” he said, with visiting Chinese political bureau member Liu Yunshan by his side.
Mr Liu told Mr Kim that China was willing to work with North Korea for a quick resumption of six-party negotiations over Pyongyang’s nuclear energy and weapons programmes.
