Britain still sells £billions of weapons to regime

ARMS-TRADE campaigners warned yesterday that despite stories of appalling abuse, Britain continues to sell billions of pounds of weapons to Saudi Arabia.

Campaign Against Arms Trade (Caat) reported that the Con-Dem government flogged almost £4 billion of arms to the Saudi regime including fighter jets, tear gas, military vehicles and targeting equipment.

“The Saudi authorities are lashing and executing opponents, locking up bloggers and bombing civilians in Yemen,” said Caat spokesman Andrew Smith.

“The human-rights situation is dire and the government has repeatedly failed to say or do anything about it.”

“How many more people will be tortured and killed before the government finally says enough is enough?”
