ENGLAND head coach John Mitchell has selected uncapped duo Phoebe Murray and Bo Westcombe-Evans as part of a 30-player squad to travel to Canada for the 2024 WXV 1 tournament.

The Red Roses are the current world number one team and won WXV1 last year, beating New Zealand in the final.

England will face the United States in Vancouver on September 29 ahead of another showdown with New Zealand in Langley on October 6 – in what could prove a dress rehearsal for the 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup final – and then hosts Canada back at BC Place Stadium on October 12.

Mitchell’s side have played two preparation Tests, which saw them defeat the Black Ferns 24-12 at Twickenham last weekend having also seen off France in Gloucester earlier in the month.

Lilli Ives Campion and Georgia Brock have also been selected for their first senior international tour, after earning their maiden caps in those warm-up games.

Marlie Packer will again captain the side, with Zoe Aldcroft and Natasha Hunt continuing their joint roles as vice-captains.

“We have selected a strong group of players who have worked hard and smart for each other during the pre-season Test matches,” said Mitchell.

“We will use the learnings to improve our game and attack the WXV tournament in Canada with great energy. We now look forward to focusing on our preparations for the USA match.”
