Sweden: Knife attacker kills two in rampage at school

A MASKED man stabbed four people at a school in southern Sweden yesterday, killing a teacher and a pupil before being shot dead by police.

Pupils fled from the Kronan school in Trollhattan, near Gothenburg, Sweden’s second-largest city, as the attack took place just after 10am.

The attacker, a local man, knocked on the doors to two classrooms and stabbed those who opened them.

Police searched the attacker’s home and found “interesting” items, although spokesman Thord Haraldsson did not say what.

Police arrived to find one teacher dead and three people seriously hurt — two pupils aged 11 and 15 and another teacher.

Officers fired two shots, one of which hit the attacker. One student and the attacker later died.

The three wounded, all in serious condition, underwent surgery at the Norra Alvsborgs Lanssjukhus hospital. “They hover between life and death,” Dr Lars Spetz said.
