Corbyn to host 40th anniversary of the ‘Pits and Perverts’ concert

JEREMY CORBYN’S Peace and Justice Project is organising a concert to mark the 40th anniversary of the historic “pits and perverts” concert during the 1984 miners’ strike.

The independent socialist MP said “the original Pits & Perverts fundraiser raised vital funds for striking miners in south Wales, and whilst the strike ended many years ago, the legacy of discrimination against LGBTQ+ people continues.

“The Pits & Perverts 40th anniversary concert will pay tribute to the spirit of solidarity that brought together striking miners and LGBTQ+ people in the UK and serve as a reminder that when we stand together against injustice, hate and bigotry, we can win.”

The concert, which will raise funds for Medical Aid for Palestinians and refugee support group Freedom from Torture, will take place at EartH Theatre in London on December 16 2024.

It will feature performances from queer punk band The Oozes and two other high-profile acts to be revealed shortly and include speeches from Mr Corbyn, Universities and Colleges Union general secretary Jo Grady and campaigning journalist Owen Jones.
