PSNI calls on public not to allow rioters to hide in their communities

POLICE in Northern Ireland (PSNI) have appealed to the public to not allow criminals to hide in their communities, following another night of disorder.

The PSNI said it responded to several race-related hate crime incidents and other disorder on Thursday night.

Officers dealt with a number of reports of criminal damage to property, including a car being set on fire and a window of a house being broken in Benburb Street.

First Minister of Northern Ireland Michelle O’Neill said on Thursday that there was “no place for racism in Northern Ireland.

“We have mothers who are afraid to walk their children to the park, we have children who are afraid to go to youth clubs and to schemes. We have healthcare workers that are afraid to go to work. We have nurses that are afraid to go home and that is not acceptable.

“Those responsible must and will face the full rigours of the force of the law.”
